Whoever You Are (WEYA) : Disability Support Worker

Location:  Brisbane 

Schedule: Weekends, Weekdays

About the Role

  • Whoever You Are is seeking passionate Disability Support Workers to join our team and redefine care standards. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be vital in providing compassionate care and essential skills to individuals with disabilities. You will work collaboratively with a team of dedicated professionals to ensure that each participant receives the highest quality of care. We currently have 15-25 hours available throughout the week, with weekend work available and sleepovers if required. 
  • Weekday rates will vary from $37.15-$45.23 an hour, depending on experience
  • We are hiring for Monday- Wenesday 7-10am Shifts, and have work outside of these hours when required.
  • Saturday and Sunday Rates if required
  • We require all staff applying to have experience with complex disabilities.
  • More hours will become available as we grow our participant base in Brisbane 
  • This role would suit anyone looking to get into the industry or a university student studying a health-related degree. 
  • You will be working with a mixed caseload and will be required to work in the western suburbs and the CBD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and personalised care to individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist with activities of daily living and accessing the community 
  • Support participants in developing independent living skills
  • Facilitate community access and participation
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting

Requirements

  • Experience or qualifications in disability support
  • Experience in Personal Care: Including showering, grooming, manual handling and hoisting/transfers.
  • Experience in managing Complex Behaviours: Ability to remain calm and patient while supporting participants with severe behaviours of concern.
  • Experience with Physical & Complex conditions
  • A genuine passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • A willingness to continuously learn and grow
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current driver's license and reliable car with insurance
