Job Details Job Location: Valdosta - Valdosta, GA 31601 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services Disaster Recovery Senior Construction Coordinator The Senior Construction Coordinator position consists of overseeing the repair of disaster damaged homes to a safe, sanitary, secure and functional condition. This position requires the ability to create a scope of work that defines what disaster related repairs are needed and the budget. The individual will need to interact professionally with homeowners and be a key representative of Inspiritus. Having the capacity to find and assess reliable contractors will be needed. Additionally, the hired person will be responsible for organizing and guiding volunteers in repairs. The Senior Construction Coordinator will work under the oversight of a Project Manager and work cooperatively with a Site Coordinator and Care Coordinator. Position Details: Full Time - Exempt employee, eligible for benefits Department – Disaster Relief Reports to the Recovery Project Manager Knows construction methods and federal, state, and local building codes Manages the construction process to create a safe, secure, sanitary, and functional environment for survivors of disaster. Valdosta, GA – Lowndes and surrounding counties Hybrid with local travel required (+/-80% travel) Monday through Friday, possibly weekends Flexible daily hours, standard is 8 work hours, plus a 30 minute lunch break Daily start & end time vary depending on work needs General Inspiritus operating hours 8:30AM – 5:00PM Annual Compensation: $80,000 prorated from start date to end of grant in June 2026. Responsibilities: Coordination and Quality Control Coordinates with the Care Coordinator to complete the initial assessment of disaster related damage. Develops scopes of work, estimates, material lists, and timelines for each project. Acts as a liaison between survivors and contractors with obtaining estimates, contractor documentation, and permits. Provides efficient and timely work completion in conjunction with the Site Coordinator, the Volunteer Coordinator, and contractors. Matches volunteers with skillsets needed to complete work in collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Site Coordinator. Orders and arranges for deliveries of building materials in coordination with Site Coordinator. In coordination with the Site Coordinator, secures, maintains and documents tools required to facilitate repairs. As needed, leads, teaches and supervises staff and volunteers in construction methods. Completes inspections, punch lists, and final walk-throughs. In situations of critical need or limited staffing, the Senior Construction Coordinator may need to fulfill Site Coordination duties. Compliance and Safety Conforms with and abides by all Inspiritus regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Develops and maintains contact with all necessary government agencies and regulatory offices to ensure that current building codes and other legal requirements are met during reconstruction. Provides overall and as needed onsite construction supervision duties. Oversees adherence to OSHA standard safety for the project. Client Relations Represents Inspiritus’ mission to help survivors of disaster thrive. Communicates respectfully and professionally with survivors and community members Ensures the client’s needs and expectations are addressed throughout the construction process. Administrative & Reporting Tracks expenditures and uploads receipts in a timely manner. Updates the database with job progress for each client. Inputs required documentation, from W9s to change orders, for submission of invoices. Participates in Recovery Team meetings, training, and organizational events. Informs the Project Manager of team performance, incidents, and complications. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Significant construction experience including producing scopes of work, estimating, overseeing building repair and possessing a working knowledge of building codes. Capacity to distinguish deferred maintenance from disaster caused damage. Commitment to OSHA safety and quality standards. Capability to lead and instruct individuals or groups with no prior construction experience. Be well organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks. Ability to work with a diverse population, communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner and adapt to cultural differences. Capacity to work effectively with faith and community partners as well as governmental agencies. Maintain a positive attitude while completing challenging work. Decent written / verbal communication skills. Aptitude to operate a computer and smartphone. Pass a comprehensive background check, including work references and drivers record check. Possess a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and required automobile insurance. Preferred Completion of OSHA 30-hour training certificate, first aid and CPR training. Experience in leading teams of volunteers with nonprofits or disaster recovery organizations. Bilingual (Especially Spanish/English) is a plus. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and cultural competencies in post-disaster settings. Vision requirements include the ability to adjust from clearly seeing far to close. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work may include entering unsafe, unsanitary, unsecure, and non-functional homes. Driving may include traveling in inclement weather. Work may take place in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions.
