Position Title: Disaster Response Engagement Manager
Department: Disaster Response Services (DRS)
Reports to: DRS Director
Location: Byron Center, MI (Hybrid/On-Site 3 days a week)
Status: Full-time, Salaried (36-hour workweek)
Salary Level: K

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Disaster Management, Volunteer Administration or Program Development, Faith-Based Humanitarian Response, Nonprofit Leadership, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, program or project management
  • Experience coordinating field logistics (e.g., travel, housing, safety protocols)
  • Active Christian faith and ability to affirm World Renew’s Statement of Faith
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and volunteer management systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% in the U.S. and Canada
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management practices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with disaster response networks (VOAD, FEMA protocols, CHS)
  • Experience with faith-based organizations or service-learning programs
  • Basic knowledge of construction/home repair
Responsibilities

PURPOSE

The DRS Engagement Manager plays a key leadership role in coordinating World Renew’s one-week volunteer group programs for disaster-affected communities across North America. This role ensures effective volunteer deployments, fosters strong relationships with churches and community partners, and oversees both long-term recovery and short-term cleanup initiatives. The DRS Response Engagement Manager plays a key role in bridging sending partners and local disaster recovery teams, fostering strong relationships that enable effective and impactful volunteer reconstruction efforts.
The position supervises the Groups Program Administrative Assistant and works closely with the DRS Director and Program Management Team to advance World Renew’s mission in disaster response.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Volunteer Group Program Oversight (Long-Term Recovery
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteer teams from churches, colleges, and other groups.
  • Collaborate with partners to plan deployments and ensure logistics, training, and safety are in place.
  • Maintain and update volunteer orientation materials and program tracking systems.
  • Ensure quality volunteer experiences and strong communication with sending and receiving partners.
