  • Overview and Objectives of the Position:
    Academic Teachers who are Discipline Leads are responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality education programs to a diverse cohort of students. Responsibilities include discipline overview, leading teaching teams, curriculum development, unit delivery, assessment oversight, student engagement, and participation in professional development.
    While the Discipline Lead ensures effective program delivery and academic quality, they do not have direct responsibility for compliance reporting but provide necessary data to the Program Manager for analysis and regulatory submissions. The role also involves leading strategic initiatives and innovations within their discipline under the direction of the Program Manager.
    This position is offered at 0.8 full-time equivalent. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate flexibility in how their hours are distributed across the working week. Due to the nature of the role, which includes meeting key academic deadlines and supporting strategic initiatives, workload demands may not be evenly spread and may vary from week to week. The Discipline Lead is expected to manage their time accordingly to ensure the effective and timely delivery of responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualifications and Selection Criteria Essential:
  • Tertiary qualifications AQF level 9 in a relevant discipline area
  • Five years teaching experience within a higher educational environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of innovative approaches to learning and teaching
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and participate equitably on collaborative tasks
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills relevant to the role, including proficiency with the Ms Office Suite and Learning Management System

Preferred:

  • Tertiary qualifications at Postgraduate level in a relevant discipline area or working towards a PhD
  • Experience in managing staff

Desirable

  • Knowledge of undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs at a tertiary level.
  • Aware of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015, the Education Services of Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2017.
