Job Description
An opportunity has arisen to join the BCH DBS unit as a DBS Supervisor, Information Management (IM) which is a collaborated BCH (Beds, Cambs & Herts) department incorporating various business areas within Organisational Support. One of the business areas within IM is the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Unit.
This is an exciting opportunity to become personally involved in protecting vulnerable members of your community from harm through the provision of information to prospective employers. The purpose of the Disclosure and Barring Service Team is to safeguard children and vulnerable adults by assessing, reviewing and providing information to the Disclosure and Barring Service customers and partners to enable safer recruitment decisions.
The DBS Team also discloses information directly to employers through the Common Law Police Disclosures process post-employment when an immediate public protection risk has been identified.
This is an important role within the unit and involves the first line supervision of a busy team processing DBS enhanced criminal record applications in order to safeguard the vulnerable. It is essential you have previous experience working within DBS or vetting environment and are able to demonstrate an ability to make informed decisions and prioritise workload as well as being able to motivate and influence staff.
The Disclosure & Barring Service Supervisor are based at Chord Park, God Manchester, Cambs. DBS Cambs Supervisors are part of a collaborated unit across BCH with a team of 46. There is one full time, 37 hr post available. DBS is open to workplace adjustments.
