The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us you will be part of a policing team that makes a real difference, with a mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe in our communities.
The Sussex Disclosure and Barring team are looking for enthusiastic and result focused team members that have experience of working in a high demand role with the ability to make decisions. The role also requires high levels of attention to detail and writing rationales as to why a decision has been made, experience with report writing is essential.
Working from our offices at Brighton Police Station the Coordinator is responsible for researching information held on local systems on applicants that are applying to work with Children or Vulnerable Adults in both the Public and Private workforce.
The role works closely with partner stakeholders, police officers and the other agencies and is responsible for searching and identifying information. Following the Quality Assured Framework the Coordinator role considers information to be disclosed for the Enhanced Disclosure Certificate.
As a Coordinator, once trained, your would have a level of autonomy to complete all applications through your initial investigation and dependant on decision progress through to the Chief Officer Delegate for a final disclosure decision.
Your will be responsible for the initial decision making on all applications whether the information is relevant to consider disclosure for the position that has been applied for or decision not to disclose. The Quality Assured Framework is a step by step guide in the decision making process which enables a relevancy test on information that is identified from local systems.
THE STARTING SALARY FOR THIS ROLE WILL USUALLY BE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SALARY RANGE AND WILL BE PRO-RATA IF THE WORKING HOURS ARE LESS THAN FULL TIME.
