Job Title: Dishwasher Reports to: Prepared Foods Managers Status: Non-Exempt, Union Classification Level 1 Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour Wage Range: $19.00 – $22.57 per hour POSITION SUMMARY Dishwashers are essential to the smooth operation of the deli, ensuring that all dishes, pots, pans, and utensils are clean and ready for use. This position also manages the disposal of deli waste products and supports the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and surrounding areas. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Keep the dish area clean and organized. Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils thoroughly. Put clean items away in appropriate locations. Take out trash and recycling. Remove trash and bus tubs from the front of house. Maintain cleanliness of the recycling area and dish pit. Sweep and mop kitchen floors, including the walk-in. Participate in regular and deep cleaning projects. Assist with putting away orders as needed. Follow directions from team members to prioritize tasks. Communicate with coworkers when leaving or returning from breaks. Share ideas and concerns with the manager. Offer help and maintain positive communication with coworkers. Ensure sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met. Perform additional duties in both front and back of house as needed. Requirements Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards; ability to maintain a current Washington State food worker card (or willingness to obtain). Friendly, face-to-face customer service in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong time management and attention to detail, especially in maintaining a clean work area. Willingness and ability to learn about deli products and natural foods. Ability to stay calm under pressure, troubleshoot kitchen challenges, and prioritize tasks effectively. Effective communicator and reliable team player with a positive attitude. Consistent and punctual attendance. Willing to work a flexible schedule, including mornings and weekends. Must be at least 18 years of age. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work in environments with moderate to loud noise, including phones, music, conversations, and machinery. Stand for extended periods and regularly bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Push and pull carts, lift and carry items weighing 10–50 pounds. Use hands frequently for grasping, handling, reaching, and repetitive movements such as scrubbing or stacking dishes. Tolerate exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals. Withstand exposure to varying temperatures, including walk-in coolers, freezers, and warm dishwashing areas.
