Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards across all bakery areas, including the kitchen, dishwashing station, storage areas, outdoor spaces and restrooms.
  • Wash and sanitize baking and service equipment, dishes, utensils, and trays using commercial dishwashing equipment.
  • Bus dirty dishes from the café and restock clean ones to the front of house to support cleanliness and smooth service flow.
  • Sweep, mop, and clean floors regularly to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Take out trash and recycling throughout the day and at closing; maintain dumpster area cleanliness.
  • Restock supplies (soap, paper towels, cleaning products, etc.) as needed.
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis (e.g., cleaning ovens, walls, drains).
  • Wash and dry towels, mopheads, and other reusable cleaning cloths as part of daily cleaning routines.
  • Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries; ensure stock is rotated and stored properly.
  • Responsible for end-of-day kitchen closing procedures, including final cleaning, turning off equipment, locking all doors, and arming the alarm system as the last person out.
  • Support bakery staff with light maintenance tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Label, store, and rotate inventory per food safety standards.
  • Communicate any supply issues or equipment concerns to the Manager.
  • Uphold and model the company’s core values of communication, collaboration, and respect for the space and resources.
  • Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation guidelines (including those from the California Department of Public Health).
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment with a proactive and can-do attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Walk-in refrigerated area is extremely cold.
