Position: Dishwasher/Kitchen Helper
Department: Food & Beverage – Kitchen
Reports To: Chef
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt (Casual)

SUMMARY

The Avenir Centre has an excellent and immediate opening for a Dishwasher/Kitchen Helper. This role is best suited for someone who is meticulous, reliable, and thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • English proficiency required; French an asset
  • Basic knowledge of commercial dish machines
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to dress code
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and a sense of urgency in team settings

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen area, in compliance with health regulations
  • Clean kitchen floors, surfaces, and equipment
  • Operate dishwashing equipment and wash all dishes to local health standards
  • Assist with food product delivery and organization
  • Follow all Food & Beverage department rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, based on event and kitchen needs

To successfully perform this role, the employee must be able to:

  • Use manual dexterity for handling kitchen tools and supplies
  • Lift up to 35 lbs occasionally, and carry up to 25 lbs frequently
  • Climb ladders and stairs as needed
  • Stand, bend, stoop, reach, and handle materials for long periods
  • Occasionally push/pull equipment and cleaning tools
  • Work in a hot, damp, and noisy kitchen environment
  • Be in frequent contact with hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and boiling liquids
  • Frequently immerse hands in wate
