Description Description Job Title: Dishwasher FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Hourly Tip Eligible Reports to: Restaurant General Manager Job Summary: The Dishwasher is responsible for ensuring all kitchenware, utensils, and cooking equipment are cleaned and sanitized promptly. This role is essential for maintaining the kitchen’s efficiency and cleanliness standards, allowing the culinary team to operate smoothly and deliver excellent dining experiences to our guests. Essential Functions: Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment following health and safety standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, including the proper storage of clean items. Operate and maintain dishwashing machines and equipment according to safety and operational guidelines. Assist with the removal of trash and recycling, ensuring that the kitchen remains clean and free of hazards. Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces in the kitchen and dishwashing area. Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure that clean items are always available for use. Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals. Report any maintenance or repair needs for dishwashing equipment to the Restaurant General Manager. Support other kitchen staff as needed, including food preparation and other kitchen duties as assigned. Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English. Ability to carry trays with multiple food and beverage products including dirty dishes & glassware. Competencies: 1. Attention to Detail- Ability to thoroughly clean and sanitize kitchenware, utensils, and equipment. Ensure all items meet health and safety standards before being returned to use. 2. Time Management: Efficiently manage time to handle high volumes of dishes and equipment during peak hours. Prioritize tasks to maintain a smooth kitchen operation. 3. Teamwork: Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other team members. Communicate effectively to ensure clean items are readily available for use. 4. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions. Capability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 40 lbs) and handle a physically demanding job. 5. Adaptability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Adapt to the fast-paced and dynamic environment of a busy kitchen. 6. Work Ethic: Strong sense of responsibility and reliability. Punctuality and consistency in performing duties. Knowledge of Safety and Sanitation Standards. Understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines. Proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment. 8. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address issues such as broken equipment or cleanliness concerns. Report maintenance or repair needs promptly to the Restaurant General Manager. 9. Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with team members. Ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately. 10. Organizational Skills: Keep the dishwashing area clean and organized. Properly store clean items to ensure easy access and maintain kitchen efficiency. Qualifications: Prior experience as a dishwasher or in a similar role is preferred but not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry heavy items (up to 40 lbs) as needed. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
