JOB SUMMARY:

The Dishwasher/Server will work under the direction of the Food Services Manager. The Dishwasher is responsible for washing dishes, cutlery, and pots in an efficient and safe manner. The Server is responsible for the Server is responsible for serving food in accordance with proper food service procedures. The Server is also responsible for serving residents in accordance with any special dietary or preferences as well as providing tray server.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.
  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality.
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to provide performance through management feedback.
  • Must show respect and sensitivity for those with barriers to employment.
  • Must work safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, other staff members and residents.
  • Consistently maintains acceptable level of productivity.
  • Must perform job duties in a prompt, thorough and acceptable manner.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Minimum Canadian Grade 10 education or equivalent.
  • Food Handling Certificate is an asset.
  • Valid WHMIS Certificate.
  • Valid FoodSafe Level 1

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous dishwashing experience is considered an asset.
  • Previous serving experience is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
  1. Organizes and efficiently washes dishes, pots, and cutlery in accordance with health and safety procedures.
  2. Sorts and stores all washed items.
  3. Remove dishes from dining room and clean tables. Transport items to the dish area to be scraped and cleaned.
  4. Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures and acts in compliance with all public health regulations.
  5. Cleans and sanitizes dishwasher mats, dish carts and dish racks, as well as mops and vacuums dining room after service, as required.
  6. Maintains cleanliness of floors and walls in kitchen area.
  7. Demonstrates and incorporates principals of safety, loss prevention and risk
  8. Empties and cleans all waste containers and transports garbage to designated area.
  9. Complies with infection control protocols as directed.
  10. Reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
  11. Ensures dietary requirements and preferences of residents are met.
  12. Serves meals and snacks in the Dining Room (or to the residents room) to residents and guests.
  13. Sets tables, and clears the room(s) of dishes, utensils, etc.
  14. Handles vouchers for guest meals.
  15. Completes Meal Attendance document at every seating, with great attention to detail.
  16. Provides assistance to the Kitchen Assistant in the preparation of food and assembly for breakfast service, dessert, meals, as assigned.
  17. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties according to established
    procedures.
  18. Assists other team members as needed or when business needs dictate.
