Description

Description On Time Trucking, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Dispatcher to join our operations team. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and timely coordination of LTL shipments, supporting drivers, and maintaining strong communication with internal teams and customers. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of local routes, particularly in Long Island and the five boroughs of NYC. The ability to optimize routes for efficiency and timely deliveries is a plus Requirements Track daily LTL deliveries and pickups across NYC and Long Island, ensuring optimal timing, cost, and efficiency. Manage multiple driver schedules while adhering to customer time windows and delivery requirements. Adjust routes in real-time in response to traffic, delays, weather, or last-minute changes to routes. Work closely with dispatchers, drivers, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth load-outs and timely communication. Leverage local knowledge of NYC's five boroughs and Long Island (including bridge/tunnel constraints, residential and commercial zones). Utilize routing and dispatch systems (TMS, ELDs, GPS software) to create and monitor routes. Maintain accurate records of routes, mileage, delivery/pickup times, and any delays or issues. Provide proactive updates to customers and internal stakeholders. Ensure routing complies with DOT regulations, Hours of Service, and company policies. Analyze route performance data and make continuous improvements to efficiency and cost control. Collaborate with the safety and operations teams to maintain high standards of performance and compliance. Contribute to strategic planning for peak periods, holidays, and seasonal demand shifts. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in logistics or transportation is a plus. Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills are required. In-depth knowledge of Long Island and the five boroughs of NYC is a plus. Basic knowledge of LTL transportation and DOT regulations preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel is required; dispatch management systems experience is a plus. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Customer and Quality focused. Excellent time management. Great communication and soft skills. High Sense of accuracy. Assertive; being able to meet high volume demand. Able to collaborate with all parties necessary to achieve goals. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected setbacks. Understanding of LEAN, and 6S principles (preferred but not required). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, if required.
