Dispatch Officer Department: Aircraft Maintenance Department Part 145- Purchasing & Supply Location: Port Moresby Reports To: Supervisor – Freight Handling We are looking for a methodical and safety-conscious Dispatch Officer to join our Engineering team within the Purchasing and Supply Department. This role is vital for the seamless movement of critical aircraft materials and ensuring that all global shipments comply with strict aviation and customs regulations. Role Purpose The Dispatch Officer is responsible for the timely and secure dispatch of all aircraft materials, rotable components, tools, and test equipment. You will ensure all outgoing items are documented, packed, and shipped in full compliance with Company policies, customs requirements, and international safety standards. Key Responsibilities Shipment & Logistics Management Coordinate the timely dispatch of all technical items via designated shipping agents. Ensure all items are professionally packed in accordance with industry best practices and current IATA regulations. Manage the shipment of items covered by IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, ensuring they are inspected and certified by a licensed officer. Documentation & Compliance Maintain an accurate, up-to-date register of all dispatched materials. Manage a comprehensive filing system for Airway Bills (AWB), Customs Invoices, and related shipping documents. Ensure total compliance with export laws by verifying that no technical item is exported without a valid Customs Export Entry. Reporting & Maintenance Prepare and submit monthly dispatch statistics reports to the Stores Supervisor. Maintain a clean, organised, and tidy dispatch area to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Perform other duties as directed by the Stores Supervisor to support the broader Purchasing and Supply goals. Qualifications & Experience Minimum of Grade 12 level education or diploma Proven experience in freight handling, dispatch, or logistics, preferably within an aviation environment. Strong knowledge of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and packing standards. Familiarity with Customs Export requirements and international shipping documentation (AWBs, Commercial Invoices). Previous experience working within a Part 145 or specialised Engineering supply chain is highly desirable. Key Competencies Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of IATA and Customs compliance. Organisational Skills: High level of accuracy in record-keeping and document filing. Safety First: A commitment to packing and handling dangerous goods with extreme care. Reliability: Ability to meet strict shipping deadlines to support aircraft maintenance schedules.
