– Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for dealing with internal teams, drivers, and customers.
– Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
– Problem-solving ability, particularly in relation to transport scheduling and managing customer requirements.
– Ability to work extended hours as required, particularly in response to busy periods or urgent customer needs.
– Willingness to deputise for the Transport Manager and take responsibility for the planning and coordination of deliveries and collections.
– A proactive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement in processes and safety practices.
– Perform routine checks on equipment prior to dispatch, ensuring it is in good working order and meets the customer’s order.
– Account for plant and machinery upon return from hire, ensuring that all equipment is accurately tagged and accounted for in an orderly manner.
– Conduct thorough checks on returned plant, identifying any damage, wear, or missing items and reporting findings to the appropriate team members.
– Update records promptly and ensure that the returned equipment is tracked accurately in the system.
– Utilise hire management software (e.g., inspHire) to record, track, and manage the dispatch and return of plant equipment.
– Maintain accurate digital and physical records of machinery movements, including dispatch details, returns, and stock levels.
– Ensure all data is up-to-date, accurate, and properly filed in accordance with company procedures.
– Deputise for the Transport Manager during their absence, taking responsibility for planning, coordinating, and controlling the scheduling of deliveries and collections across the South of the UK.
– Communicate effectively with transport drivers, ensuring they are fully briefed on delivery/collection requirements and routes.
