Job Summary: The Dispatcher Manager oversees all dispatch activities related to freight movement and driver coordination in a fast-paced trucking and logistics environment. This role ensures loads are assigned, tracked, and delivered efficiently, while also managing a team of dispatchers to maintain high standards in customer service, driver communication, and compliance. FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried) Supervisory Responsibilities: One direct report. The dispatcher manager will play a crucial role in indirectly supervising truck drivers by efficiently coordinating schedules, providing instructions, and ensuring seamless communication to optimize the transportation process. Duties/Responsibilities: · Supervise and manage a team of dispatchers, providing training, support, and performance evaluations. · Assign freight loads to drivers based on location, availability, hours of service, and equipment capacity. · Monitor driver routes and schedules in real-time to ensure on-time pickup and delivery. · Act as a liaison between shippers, drivers, brokers, and warehouse personnel to coordinate efficient load movement. · Maintain compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and company safety policies regarding driver hours, logs, and vehicle usage. · Use Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and GPS tracking software to optimize routes and reduce empty miles. · Address service issues, breakdowns, route changes, and customer complaints promptly and effectively. · Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including bills of lading, dispatch logs, trip sheets, and delivery confirmations. · Analyze dispatch performance metrics and recommend process improvements. · Support recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts for drivers by maintaining positive communication and support. Requirements Skills/Abilities: · Proficient in TMS platforms (PortPro, Samsara, and Microsoft Office Suite.) · Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, HOS (Hours of Service), ELD systems, and freight documentation. · Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills. · Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and resolve operational issues quickly. Education and Experience: · High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred. · 3–5 years of dispatch experience in a trucking or freight environment. · 1–2 years of supervisory experience in dispatch or logistics operations. Physical Requirements: · Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working with dispatching equipment. · Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. · Office-based with regular use of dispatch software, phones, and computer systems. · May require early morning, evening, or weekend availability depending on operational needs. · Occasional travel or field time with drivers may be required. Schedule: · Day shift. · Monday to Friday. · Weekends as needed.
