JOB SUMMARY

CFT Recycling is a growing leader in metal recycling and fleet logistics, committed to keeping our communities clean and our operations running efficiently. We’re currently seeking a skilled Dispatcher who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a solid understanding of transportation regulations across Ontario and Quebec.
You’ll be responsible for coordinating our diverse fleet - including roll-off trucks, tow trucks, clam trucks, and transport units - ensuring jobs are scheduled, routes are optimized, and safety remains top priority.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a medium to high volume dispatch role preferred.
  • Experience using Google Docs and various industry specific software including CRM, ScrapIT, and Fleet Complete is an asset.
  • Experience setting up and managing email accounts and workstations.
  • Professional working proficiency in spoken and written English is required; bilingualism is an asset.
  • Strong analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills working with technical and nontechnical personnel at various levels in the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Dispatching and Scheduling: Efficiently coordinate the dispatch of drivers and vehicles, ensuring timely deliveries and pick-ups according to customer requirements and company standards.
  • Route Optimization: Plan and optimize delivery routes to minimize travel time, fuel consumption, and overall transportation costs while maximizing efficiency and meeting delivery deadlines.
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with drivers, providing clear instructions, updates, and support throughout their routes. Act as the primary point of contact for drivers and address any inquiries or issues that may arise during their journeys.
  • Tracking and Monitoring: Utilize transportation management systems and GPS tracking tools to monitor the movement of drivers and shipments in real-time. Provide proactive updates to customers and internal stakeholders regarding shipment statuses and potential delays.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure drivers adhere to all safety regulations and transportation laws, promoting a culture of safety and responsible driving. Monitor drivers’ hours of service to comply with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify and address potential logistical challenges or disruptions. Respond quickly and effectively to unexpected incidents, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or weather-related issues, to minimize disruptions to delivery schedules.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by promptly responding to customer inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring customers receive accurate and timely information about their shipments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the logistics team, yard personnel, and other departments to coordinate efficient load planning, optimize vehicle utilization, and streamline overall transportation operations.
  • Training and Development: Assist in training new drivers on company procedures, policies, and safety protocols. Provide ongoing support and guidance to drivers to ensure compliance with company guidelines.
