Join Our Team and Help Keep Our Community Moving Wapato Shores Accessible Transportation who provide Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Dispatcher/Scheduler to help coordinate safe, timely, and efficient transportation for the people we serve. This role is the heartbeat of our daily operations—connecting clients, drivers, staff, and service partners to ensure every ride is delivered with care, dignity, and respect. About the Role The Dispatcher/Scheduler takes a systems-level, big-picture approach to transportation scheduling, balancing operational needs, client requests, funding requirements, and real-time changes throughout the day. You’ll use computerized scheduling and dispatch software to build accurate, efficient daily schedules while providing outstanding customer service and professional communication. You’ll work closely with the Operations Director, Program Managers, drivers, and external partners to ensure reliable service delivery across our community.   What You’ll Do: * Monitor and adjust driver routes to maximize efficiency and minimize delays * Respond to schedule changes, same-day requests, and service disruptions * Support drivers with directions, traffic updates, and route changes * Communicate trip status and updates to clients * Confirm and process cancellations and no-shows * Prioritize incoming calls and dispatch vehicles as needed * Create accurate, efficient daily schedules using computerized dispatch software * Assign the most appropriate vehicle and service type within required timelines * Confirm or deny ride requests from clients and brokerages * Maintain communication with service providers about route issues or unusual circumstances * Respond professionally to client feedback, including complaints and commendations * Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation * Report operational concerns to the Operations Director or Program Manager * Use phones, two-way radios, computers, and other communication tools Required Qualifications * Two years of experience in operations, scheduling, dispatching, or coordination * Two years of customer service experience * Strong organizational and multitasking skills * Ability to communicate clearly and professionally by phone and radio * Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized scheduling systems * Ability to read maps and navigate local geography * Knowledge of Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties * Excellent problem-solving, listening, and communication skills * Ability to pass a national criminal background check (fingerprint-based) * Ability to perform safety-sensitive duties and comply with FTA drug and alcohol testing requirements Welcome Additional Qualifications * Experience working with older adults and people with disabilities * Familiarity with public transportation systems * Bilingual or multilingual in addition to English * Experience with Ecolane, MediRoutes, or similar scheduling software Physical Requirements * Prolonged sitting and repetitive motion * Extensive visual and hearing involvement * Frequent verbal communication * Office-based work environment Why Work at Wapato Shores?
