Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends as necessary as customer demands could cause staff to work out side normal business operating hours.   POSITION OVERVIEW Transportation Dispatcher to handle dispatching duties to support our Regional and Local drivers. The Dispatcher will have a high degree of organization, be detailed oriented and can communicate effectively. In this important role, the Dispatcher will be supporting our trucking lines to plan, schedule, coordinate and control drivers, loads and equipment. Additionally, this role requires a degree of being a “go getter” as they will have to hunt for broker fright at times to ensure our trucking lines are always operating at max capacity and that drivers get their needed weekly miles. As a Dispatcher, you must be able to react and operate smoothly in stressful situations as the freight industry can fluctuate drastically and at the last minute.   At UWC Transportation our employees are committed, dependable, professional and accountable.  We value integrity, honesty and respect for others. We have high standards for how our employees conduct themselves at work and in the communities, we support.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Conduct all dispatcher functions guided by company policies, procedures, safety and customer requests  * Receive or prepare daily work orders and schedule driver appointments for pickups and deliveries * Determine types and amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, and personnel required, according to work orders * Verify Drivers know their schedules and adhere to them * Ensure drivers are always following D.O.T regulations * Be committed to providing exceptional customer service for both internal and external customers * Enforce company’s compliancy with FSCSA regulations * Support Driver documentation to include: HOS, Logs, Mileage, Fuel, DVIR’s, Repair & Maintenance and Shadow files * Always promote safety * Adjust quickly to last minute, rapid changes in the business * Maintain a calm, composed, level headed and focused demeanor in stressful situations and can facilitate success in conflict * Create solutions when things change last minute * Make sound business decisions under pressure  * Sit for extended periods of time operating a computer and phone * Communicate clearly and effectively both in orally and written * Team player – Supportive and helpful toward other teammates, are open and receptive to coaching and feedback from peers or leadership and always conducts self in a positive manner  * Complete all assigned training and testing * Other duties may be assigned   COMPETENCIES * Attention to detail — Job requires being careful about detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks. * Multi-task – At times the dispatcher will be toggling between multiple software windows, typing and talking at the same time * Customer service oriented – Provide high customer service and exercise patience to drivers  * Can effectively build interpersonal relationships with other coworkers * Communication proficiency to included reading and writing in English * Stress tolerance — Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations * Dependability — Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations  * Achievement/effort — Job requires establishing and maintaining personally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks while having a high degree of pride in the work one performs   WORK ENVIRONMENT This position works in an office setting. The work station is a cubical setup with close working proximity to other teammates.      REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * High school diploma or GED * Customer service experience in similar capacity * Proficiency in operating computers * Knowledgeable with Microsoft applications   PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * 2 years heavy truck dispatching experience * Knowledge with D.O.T. and FSCSA regulations   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. Additionally, being able to hear and communicate effetely as much of the position is spent using a phone headset. Individuals will be seated for long periods of time throughout the day. This position may require walking primarily on level surfaces, reaching above shoulder heights or below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques are required.
