Polden Medical Practice is an expanding GP practice which consists of two surgeries, one in the village of Edington and one in the village of Woolavington, both situated in the Polden Hills. We are committed to providing a high level of care to our patients and we have an exciting opportunity available for a dispenser to join our friendly and dedicated Dispensary team.

YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A NVQ 2 QUALIFICATION IN DISPENSING.

Our dispensers work at both surgeries - this will generally be consistent although there may be rare occasions you are asked to swap which site you are working at (they are roughly a 10-minute drive from each other).
Your day-to-day duties would include (but would not be limited to) accurate and efficient dispensing of both acute and repeat prescriptions, preparation of community monitored dosage systems, ordering stock with NHS resources and practice profitability in mind, answering patient queries, be that at the hatch, via phone or by email, and where appropriate providing advice on medication, health & lifestyle choices and self-care.
As a member of the Dispensary team, you will need to be approachable, professional and knowledgeable in assisting our patients. You will have previous experience within Primary or Secondary Care and a background in dispensing.
We are currently looking to fill around 30 hours per week over a 4-day period.
The Practice is operational between the hours of 8.00am to 6.30pm and flexibility will be required to cover ad-hoc annual leave, sickness, and our Saturday morning clinics on a rota basis (roughly 1 in 10). There is an expectation to open or close the dispensary on certain days as part of the core hours.
We are looking for a self-motivating, enthusiastic person to work in a dynamic and friendly work environment. The job is a rewarding one with a sense of achievement and lots on interaction with our patients. You will need to be competent with a computer. A working knowledge of the EMIS system would also be beneficial, but we can provide on-the-job training.
