Description

Job Summary: An opportunity is available for a dedicated, friendly, and organised Dispensing Optician to join and lead our team in Silverburn, Glasgow. The successful candidate will interpret our customers optical prescriptions, offer expert advice on lens options, help customers choose their perfect frames, and ensure optimal vision correction and comfort.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience:
  • Experience as a Dispensing Optician is essential, however, further training will be provided and we will continue to help develop and expand your knowledge.
  • Salary negotiable based on experience.
  • Previous experience in a fast paced customer-facing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with optical equipment and software systems is beneficial.
  • Must hold a valid dispensing optician licence or certification.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in interpreting optical prescriptions.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small tools and optical products.
  • Good vision and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to perform precise measurements and adjustments.
  • Knowledge of optical products, lens types, and frame styles.
  • Ability to operate both in a team and individually to achieve sales targets and contribute to a positive and welcoming store environment.

    Please note base salary is DOE minimum £28,000 to £32,000 per annum, depending on experience, with the opportunity to earn bonus each month.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Service:
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times by understanding customer needs, and addressing customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Support customers in selecting eyewear, including frames and lenses, that best fits their prescriptions, lifestyle, and preferences. Offer product recommendations, explaining different lens and frame options to customers.
  • Take measurements and ensure that the fit, comfort and accuracy of frames are checked thoroughly.
  • Handle returns, exchanges, and adjustments of eyewear.
  • Making customers feel welcome and valued to encourage loyalty.
  • Educate customers on the proper care of their eyewear.
  • Technical Support:
  • Accurately interpret customer prescriptions.
  • Provide expert advice on lens types, materials, coatings, and tints based on customer requirements and lifestyle.
  • Take precise measurements for glasses, including fitting frames and adjusting them to ensure optimal comfort and vision correction.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments on glasses as needed.
  • Calibrate and maintain optical equipment and instruments.
  • Conduct lens edging and glazing, and fitting when necessary.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Place orders and manage inventory for optical supplies, lenses, and frames.
  • Restock and merchandise products, and maintain sales records.
  • Maintain customer records and orders, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Process payments.
  • Ensure all services are compliant with industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in optical products and services through continuous education and training.
  • Perform general office duties, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace.
