Job Summary: Provides investigative support to the District Asset Protection Safety Manager (DAPSM) and Asset Protection Safety Managers (APSM) by leading and resolving internal, external, and safety investigations across NEX Stores, Distribution Centers, and NHG locations within the assigned area of responsibility as designated by DAPSM. Duties and Responsibilities: - Works under the general supervision of the assigned DAPSM and works closely with APSMs within assigned areas of responsibility. - Conducts and supports internal, external, Organized Retail Crime (ORC), vendor/contractor, mishap and safety, workplace violence, unethical conduct, and other assigned investigations in accordance with NEXCOM and Code S - Asset Protection/Safety (APS) policies and protocols. - Conducts or assists with authorized surveillance activities, including overnight surveillance, covert camera installations, and investigative interviews of associates, vendors, and contractors. - Prepares, documents, and maintains complete investigative case files, ensuring investigations are conducted professionally and in compliance with APS standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. - Testifies in court and/or legal proceedings as required. - Analyzes investigative outcomes and recommends improvements to APS programs, controls, and technologies (e.g., physical security, CCTV, EAS, alarm systems) to reduce total loss and enhance operational effectiveness. - Assists DAPSMs and APSMs in identifying causes of inventory shrinkage and total loss and supports the implementation of corrective and preventive control measures. - Participates in fiscal year store inventories, including preparation, execution, reconciliation, and reporting of irregularities to appropriate leadership, as warranted. - Utilizes Point of Sales (POS) exception reporting tools, APS case management systems, and other enterprise systems to detect, investigate, and mitigate loss, safety, and compliance issues impacting profitability. - Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Corporate, District, and Store Operations leadership, APS counterparts, and law enforcement partners (command, base, federal, and local). - Supports APS efforts within the assigned areas of responsibility, including administration of NAVOSH and Fire Prevention Programs, to ensure a safe and secure environment for associates, patrons, and guests. - Delivers or assists with APS training and awareness programs and ensures mishap investigations and safety deficiencies are documented in compliance with NEXCOMINST 5102 and the Risk Management Information System (RMI). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Regularly works in an office environment, watching Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) or work monitors for an extended period of time. - May lift up to 50lbs and over 50lbs with assistance from others during certain assignments or tasks. - Performs body movements such as bending, twisting, stooping, etc. - Works in various work environments that may have extreme seasonal temperature fluctuations. - Climbs stairways up to 20ft. - Climbs ladders. - Physically maneuvers around heavy equipment, such as forklifts, turret trucks, 18-wheelers, and 10-ton trucks. - Opens and closes trailers & containers requiring pushing and pulling doors. - Walks the facility floor and exterior of facilities regularly. The job requires the incumbent to walk on various surfaces (some of which may be hard/uneven) for at least 2 to 3 hours daily. This requirement is more extensive when various tasks or business needs arise or are assigned. - Works around potential Haz-Mat issues. - Wears personal protective equipment, clothing, and shoes for performing job functions as required. - May operate handheld scanners at times to conduct assigned duties. OTHER - Candidates must be eligible for and obtain a Secret Clearance within six months of appointment. Failure to obtain will result in termination. - Maintains a professional image, dress code, and demeanor in appearance and communications at all times. - Adheres to APS Code of Conduct, works prescribed schedules as determined to be in the best interest of the NEXCOM to meet business needs/demands. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requires frequent daily or weekly travel between NEX stores, Distribution Centers and NHG within assigned areas of responsibility. Performance duties may also require occasional overnight travel up to 25%25 of time. - Proficient in Microsoft Office. U.S. Citizenship Required A total of four (4) years consisting of the following: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years’ experience gained in the administrative, investigative, or asset protection/safety fields, which enabled the applicant to gain skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships, and the ability to exercise mature judgment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for nine months of experience, up to a maximum of a four-year bachelor's degree for three (3) years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of responsible experience in asset protection/safety, which provided analytical, planning, advisory, operational, or evaluative work in investigations, internal review and control techniques, reducing and controlling inventory shrink and/or total loss.
