The Darden School of Business has an opportunity for a part-time (15 hours a week) Distance Learning Support Technician to join its team in Charlottesville, VA. This position provides technical support for our live online learning programs including our professional degree program’s distance learning classes. This is an in-person position based in Charlottesville, VA, supporting evening classes with a typical schedule of 5:00–9:00 p.m. Please note this is part-time hourly wage position and is not eligible for benefits. Responsibilities Include: Web Conferencing: Set up equipment and tests for primary and backup studios. Record and post on-line classes to the learning management system. Online class support includes live troubleshooting for remote students and faculty instructor and training to students between class sessions. Audio/Video Production: Work in-studio with staff and faculty to produce asynchronous content, including course materials and tutorials. Edit studio recordings using Adobe Creative Suite. IT Support: Continually monitor and update studio and technician hardware and software. Gather valuable feedback from our diverse clientele to see how technological improvements can offer solutions to current challenges. This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. Required Education and Experience: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: 3 years relevant experience. License: None required ​ Preferred Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to set up and troubleshoot professional audio video equipment, including support experience for AV equipment and on-line conferencing software. Skilled in troubleshooting Windows/Mac operating systems and mobile platforms. Proficient keyboarding skills with an emphasis on speed, accuracy, and attention to detail. Excellent communications and customer service skills. The ability to communicate and teach technical features to a non-technical audience is critical. Ability to manage multiple tech support conversations simultaneously. Ability to quickly learn and implement new technological processes and techniques. Ability to adeptly provide unique and/or creative solutions utilizing both technical abilities as well as project management. Ability to work both independently and on a team. Strong interpersonal relationships and teamwork skills. Microsoft suite office programs (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook with strong knowledge of Excel preferred). Working knowledge of learning management systems (Canvas preferred).
