Job Description Position Purpose: Responsible for overseeing the processing a variety of bulk and liquid waste through the operation of thin film evaporators and pot stills resulting in the best possible recovery of customers’ hazardous waste materials in accordance with permit regulations pertaining to air emissions or gallons per hour (GPH) to ensure that the end product meets the customer specifications. Trains all distillation operators in the performance of their duties and provides guidance and counseling on existing and/or new recovery techniques. Primary Duties /Responsibilities: Schedule and coordinator the run of waste materials on the distillation unit. Maintain logs and data on charge and/or discharge pot stills pertaining to appropriate gallon amounts of liquid to run product to customer’s specifications. Supervise compatibility testing on a variety of hazardous materials to be mixed for recovery to insure that mixtures are in compliance with recovery specifications. Maintain a schedule of clean tank recovery samples and insure routing to laboratory along with appropriate paperwork to ascertain the quality of recovery. Supervise loading, unloading, and sampling of bulk tankers and/or drums to ascertain accuracy of hazardous waste contents prior to applying the recovery process. Train newly hired distillation operators in the performance of their daily responsibilities and duties and provide guidance, as necessary. Ability to perform the Distillation Operator I & II job duties and responsibilities. Perform Distillation operations as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education / Experience / Background: High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required Prior work experience as a Distillation Operator I & II Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Strong team player Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines Strong customer orientation Strong supervisory and leadership skills Required Certification / Licenses / Training: 40-Hour HAZWOPER training Additional Information Hourly Pay Range: Minimum of $32 to a maximum of $35 Benefits: Veolia’s comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off policies, as well as health, dental, vision, life insurance, savings accounts, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteering and more.
