1. Financial Ensure effective cost management to minimize production costs as well as maintain financial discipline and plan for benchmarked improvements Monitor capital as well as operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality mix Execute the spirit production budgets, including relevant departments accountable to the achievement of budgets, in line with the budgets made by Distillery Head Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards Responsible for maintenance budget allocation & control, and operate within the financial constraints of the business, using capital in the most efficient way possible Direct cross functional teams who will reduce the number of minor stops and machine breakdowns in the facility. They will also discover ways to improve machinery and increase productivity Develop autonomous maintenance teams to independently perform important maintenance without frequent oversight to reduce the level of administration required within the facility 2. Customer Work in collaboration with tasters, other spirit markers, and Marketing and Finance division to develop and bring to market new spirit mixes to increase overall product line in the mix Work with the Unit Head of the manufacturing division to ensure no disruption in supply of molasses to the distillery Liaise with customers, media, other distilleries and wholesalers to promote the distillery and its products Direct and manage Industrial relations, so as to ensure constructive work environment and protect unit�s interests Encourage a culture of work safety within the facility. They must continuously improve work practices � performing risk assessments, applying positive intervention principles, using safety tags appropriately, and acting on near misses Work closely with managers and the maintenance planner to develop comprehensive maintenance schedules Work to ensure the facility complies with any food safety standards and occupational health & safety legislation Create a work environment that works well and is constantly improving. They must drive initiatives to improve the workplace and enhance productivity. 3. Operations Oversee every aspect of spirit production including sourcing of raw materials, malting, fermentation, distillation, maturation to be further sent for blending and bottling Ensure accurate sampling is done on the spirit sample to ensure highest quality standards Evolve and develop strategy and ensure implementation to enhance capacity and improvement of productivity norms to achieve assigned KL targets of the unit Work with the other team members to refine the process of spirit marking and define a set specification or SOPs for producing spirit of consistent quality Ensure each phase of distillation process is logged and detailed records are kept to ensure the products meet quality guidelines Ensure that the Maintenance department operates safely and in accordance with legal and DBSIL standard Ensure that the infrastructure of the facility is well-maintained and safe to use. Quickly respond to any safety issues and regularly maintain equipment to ensure its continued safe operation Devise plans to continually sample maturing stock and make decisions on its use Develop the scope matrix/design for spent wash reducing system Design heat recovery systems for reducing the solid fuel consumption Ensure Turn Around of under-performing Distillery units Deploy various methodologies to analyze processes and recommend modification to minimize escalations, reduce rejections, Improve operating Efficiency, control variability, cost and reduction in cycle time Ensure effective implementation and management of environment, health and safety measures in compliance with Government policies and legislation to achieve zero accidents and pollution free environment Promote and ensure effective implementation of world-class systems and their integration to achieve system perfection Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets Collect and analyze data to find root causes of waste or overtime and ensure cent percent elimination of the same Address employee issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements Develop and implement an Operational Excellence program (Best Practices) which ensures continuous improvement in operations Maintain highest levels of hygiene and food safety at the site 4. Self/ Team Development Recommend and train staff as required for team to perform tasks including milling, mashing, fermenting, distilling, record keeping and cleaning Provide safety training and ensure that all safety protocols are in place Review and monitor performance of team members� and provide requisite developmental support/ inputs Develop the team and update their knowledge base to cater the organization need Strategize avenues for enhancing employee satisfaction in the function, resulting in high engagement levels of employees
