GENERAL STATEMENT The Distribution Assistant for 22 West Magazine is responsible for distributing the magazine, including off campus locations. Maintains newsstands throughout campus and Long Beach community, removes prior issues and determines the best locations for magazine distribution. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED. 1. Responsible for the total distribution of 22 West Magazine on the CSULB campus and local Long Beach community. Ensure that all copies of the magazine are current and circulated. Travel within Long Beach City is required. 2. Circulates magazines two times per week. Ensures newsstands are replenished as needed. 3. Coordinates and distributes magazines to local businesses. Works with Student Editor in Chief to determine off-campus locations on a semester-by-semester basis. 4. Maintains the appearance of the newsstands on campus every week. Ensures that the newsstands are clean and the surrounding areas are free from any litter and debris. Submits work orders for maintenance as needed. 5. Monitors the number of magazines taken from the various locations to ascertain the most effective location of newsstands on campus, updates the distribution spreadsheet, and provides monthly reports to the Student Editor in Chief. 6. Performs safety inspections on the newsstands and arranges for transport of defective stands to the designated loading dock. 7. Prepare the department report for weekly meeting with 22 West Media Leads. 8. Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience No previous experience required. Previous volunteer experience with 22 West Media preferred. Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units. Knowledge and Abilities Ability to be self-directed with minimal supervision. Must be able to tactfully interact with students, staff, faculty, and community members. The ability to travel independently on and off campus. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as determined by ASI. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Schedule This position is a temporary, one academic-year appointment aligned with the CSULB academic calendar. The work schedule generally follows standard business hours. Scheduled hours may fluctuate depending on departmental needs. Occasional evening and weekend support is required. The employee is occasionally required to walk to other offices within the building and around the campus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
