Job Details Job Location: Rosenthal Way - Cincinnati, OH 45204 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Travel Percentage: Negligible Job Shift: Day Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services The Distribution Center Volunteer Operations Assistant is responsible for impacting the volunteer experience and meeting the warehouse's distribution operations. The assistant communicates with warehouse and community partner agency staff to forecast projects and volunteer staffing needs. The assistant supports the goal of hunger relief by following practices that promote fiscal responsibility through time management, waste reduction, and recycling. Essential Job Functions Volunteer Engagement – Implements and evaluates strategies, processes, and policies that enhance the volunteer experience. Program and Warehouse Responsibilities – In conjunction with warehouse staff and Community Agency/Program staff, provide direct supervision and ongoing volunteer management for DC volunteers. Responsible for the training of and supervision of volunteer groups. Utilize the barcoding system, Macola, for inventory management and reporting. Adheres to Feeding America, USDA, OASHF, and manufacturing quality control standards. Maintains safe-serv and forklift requirements and workplace safety certifications. Additional Responsibilities Supports overall volunteer engagement efforts throughout the agency, when necessary, especially during normal operations at the Repack Room, Bea Taylor Market, and Special Events. This includes assisting with setup, breakdown, and site preparation for volunteer activities, including weekends and holidays. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and ability. Food Safe or ServSafe certificate – or ability to receive a certificate. Experience At least 1 -2 years of experience leading groups & individuals. Previous warehouse operation is preferred. Experience operating a forklift, power jack, and wrapper is preferred. Skills & Abilities Strong organizational skills that reflect an ability to perform productively with frequent interruptions. Highly resourceful team player. Strong interpersonal skills that lend the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, volunteers, staff, board members, external partners, and donors. Requires sound judgment and tact to communicate effectively with various personalities while appreciating diversity in our customers, volunteers, staff, and community. Strong communication and presentation skills. Technical skills required. Must be able to use (Outlook & Excel). Training will be provided for Volunteer Hub and Macola software. Demonstrates proactive approaches to problem-solving; adaptable to various competing demands and demonstrates the highest level of customer/client service and response. Adherence to confidentiality. Ability to receive CPR/AED and first aid training Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Alternative working environments will include community outdoor events when working with other volunteer activities.
