Description Company: Noisy Creek (The Stranger, Portland Mercury, EverOut, Bold Type Tickets) Location: Seattle, WA Reports to: Publisher Schedule: Part-time, ~24 hrs/week Pay: $33.65/hr Overview Noisy Creek is seeking a Distribution Manager to oversee and improve print circulation for The Stranger and Portland Mercury across Seattle and Portland. This role manages third-party contractors, ensures accurate and timely delivery, and provides strategic oversight of distribution operations. It combines vendor management, logistics, and fieldwork with direct accountability for accuracy, efficiency, and communication. Key Responsibilities Market Oversight & Logistics Manage distribution across both Seattle and Portland. Oversee third-party contractors and ensure compliance with service standards. Optimize routes and delivery schedules; track and analyze pickup rates. Coordinate with Production, Advertising, and Marketing teams on scheduling, inserts, and special distribution needs. Vendor & Partner Management Support and supervise third-party distribution partners. Build and maintain strong relationships with distribution points. Adjust routes/logistics to align with company goals. Advise on best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Personnel & Team Management Supervise and support third-party teams; hire/train in-house staff if operations expand. Manage schedules, workloads, and on-the-ground challenges. Enforce safety protocols and smart distribution practices. Office, Meetings & Reporting Maintain accurate and current distribution lists. Report on circulation data, metrics, and trends. Provide recommendations for scaling, route changes, or new opportunities. Technical & Administrative Use logistics tools and spreadsheets to manage lists and routes. Review data to identify efficiency improvements. Communicate with vendors; provide timely reporting. Manage budgets and track distribution expenses. Field Work Act as company representative with contractors and drivers. Confirm distribution quality and placement. Physically handle materials as needed (must be able to lift 25–50 lbs). Requirements Experience in newspaper distribution, logistics, or related fields. Skilled at managing contractors and/or teams. Familiarity with the unique challenges of print media distribution. Ability to balance office work with hands-on field responsibilities. Preferred: Background in alternative weekly distribution. Comfort with cross-market operations. Compensation & Benefits This is a part-time, non-exempt position, with a hybrid work schedule (both in-office and remote). Estimate 24hr/week.
