We currently have an opportunity for Full Time Distribution Services Assistant. You will play a critical role in managing waste and distribution services within the Women's & Children’s Hospital. By maintaining a clean and safe environment, you will directly contribute to the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and staff. Your interactions will include patients, the public, and facility staff, ensuring confidentiality, empathy, and courtesy at all times. What You’ll Do (key responsibilities) This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including: Collect and transport waste materials, ensuring compliance with infection control standards and safety protocols. Distribute general items, including gas cylinders, prescriptions, specimens, and food items. Manage the collection and distribution of linen, ensuring timely delivery to designated areas. Conduct Patient Room Discharge cleaning and maintain cleanliness in designated areas, including infectious or isolation areas. Actively participate in the hospital’s Infection Control program, adhering to relevant policies and procedures. Follow Downer’s health and safety policies, identifying and reporting hazards proactively to ensure a safe working environment. What You’ll Bring (experience required) Previous experience in a stores or distribution position within a similar environment (preferred). Ability to interact courteously and empathetically with patients, visitors, and staff. High level of accuracy in handling distributions, waste management, and cleaning tasks. Capability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, including infection control principles. Ability to convey information clearly and positively, fostering a collaborative work environment.
