THE OPPORTUNITY

BBE seeks a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Distribution Specialist to join our Procurement Team. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert for specific product categories, ensuring procurement decisions align with business needs, quality standards, and budget constraints. You are responsible for managing and optimizing the flow of goods from suppliers or production facilities to end customers, ensuring accurate, timely, and cost-effective delivery. Additionally, you are accountable for product knowledge and providing exceptional customer service and support to clients. This role involves coordinating with internal departments, external logistics partners, and customers to ensure efficient inventory management, order fulfillment, and transportation logistics. The job responsibilities break down as follows:

  • 40% Customer service
  • 30% Order processing & gaining product knowledge
  • 30% Logistics

BBE values teamwork, and you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support sourcing strategies, drive cost efficiencies, and manage product lifecycles effectively. You will work primarily in our YEG office, with some flexibility on scheduled WFH days.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or product management (specific category experience a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and procurement tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, sourcing methodologies, and supplier relationship management.

SKILLS

  • Experience in lubricants, equipment, chemicals, construction, industrial MRO.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for assigned product categories within the procurement function & external customer.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing models to inform procurement strategies and product selection.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, finance, sales) to define product specifications, forecast demand, and support procurement planning.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality, cost-effective sourcing.
  • Monitor product availability, delivery timelines, and inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
  • Support developing and maintaining procurement policies, processes, and systems to optimize efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the procurement analytics team to track KPIs and report on category performance, cost savings, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Conduct product training and knowledge-sharing sessions for procurement team members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply issues which may pose a risk or impact on customer expectations
  • Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.
  • Prepare purchase orders in accordance with final negotiations with selected suppliers and organizational targets and requirements.
  • Create BOLs and packings slips and ship the product to client locations suing internal and external carrier portals
  • Contact suppliers to resolve issues with price, quality, delivery, or invoice.
  • Other duties may be assigned occasionally as required by the Company.

CORPORATE COMPLIANCE DUTIES

  • Actively participate in QHSETR programs and systems.
  • Contribute to and foster transparent, direct communication, education, and customer service enhancement with the operations team and clients.
  • Ensure file detail and supporting documentation allow for efficient handovers to Operations and Accounting.
  • Contribute to BBE’s continuous improvement and organizational efficiency goals.
