Description:
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the District Principal-Human Resources will provide leadership, consultation, coaching and guidance on a wide range of human resources programs, employee relations, processes and initiatives.
The District Principal – Human Resources will be an educational leader, responsible for supporting the human resources functions that are aligned with student learning, including labour relations, wellness, and recruitment and retention and for establishing and maintaining productive working relationships. The District Principal – Human Resources will be responsible for cultivating and engaging in a productive working environment.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders.
Demonstrates solid interpersonal and leadership skills including sound judgement, diplomacy, and problem solving.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
5-7 years of relevant experience in various leadership roles in a multi-site unionized setting, including excellent knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or proof of application)
A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, or a related educational field
A CPHR designation is an asset.
Extensive experience within in the K-12 secto
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates and promotes innovation and strategic human resources solutions to people-related matters that promote a positive workplace culture, engagement and inclusion.
Develops strong working relationships and works collaboratively with schools, departments, unions and associations.
Demonstrates and promotes innovation and strategic human resources solutions to people-related matters that promote a positive workplace culture, engagement and inclusion.
Provides advice, support and consistency regarding human resource-related matters, in accordance with professional human resource practices, corporate policies and procedures, related collective agreements, labour legislation and regulations.
Facilitates resolution for employee disputes and grievances regarding interpretation of collective agreements, labour legislation, and human resources policies and practices.
Responds to employee concerns and leads confidential workplace investigations and discipline processes.
Supports leadership with the coordination of investigations into allegations of employee misconduct matters, evaluate complaints and determine action plans.
Develops and executes a talent acquisition strategy that supports the district’s recruitment and retention plan.
Coordinates employee interviewing and references throughout the year.
Updates and maintains employee various reports as required
Coordinates employee records, contracts, qualifications, experience verification, leaves, attendance support, accommodation and disability management.
Supports the process for ongoing growth and development for employees.
Coordinates secondments, exchanges, and deferred salary leaves, as required.
Liaises with external agencies including post-secondary institutions, other school districts, and regulatory bodies.
Works in collaboration with department staff.
Prepares reports on areas of the human resources functions such as attendance, recruitment, retention and engagement.
Commits to creating a workplace that fosters a culture of belonging, diversity and inclusion by attracting, retaining, and developing a talented and diverse workforce.
Able to travel from time to time for recruitment and retention.
Stays current with effective human resources trends and practices to support the business side of the organization
Stays current with sound educational practice and pedagogy to support and enhance recruitment and retention.

Provides leadership for the EFAP Committee and tracks/ promotes the program usage.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
