Based within Student and Library Services, you will play a pivotal role leading the delivery of a diversity and cultural change research project within the DCC team, working closely with the Head of DCC. ARU are committed to delivering a range of challenging targets through our Access and Participation Plan (APP) to reduce the outcome gaps experienced by specific student groups. This is important work that will contribute to delivering a fairer place to study for students from a variety of backgrounds.
The university is undertaking a series of projects to advance equality. You will work closely with the team and colleagues around the university to amplify and support institutional equality work, raise awareness of student experience issues and our APP commitments. You will lead the delivery of an essential project to be delivered within your year in post, working closely with the DCC Manager to create an innovative and engaging feedback loop to gain valuable insights into the student experience at ARU.
With a minimum of a degree and/or substantial relevant experience, you will have a good understanding of diversity and cultural change themes including key concepts such as social justice and disadvantage, privilege, empathy, intersectionality, anti-racism and allyship, as well as how these concepts adapt and evolve according to the needs of different groups. You will be experienced at working independently and as part of a team to meet multiple deadlines and organise and prioritise workloads. You will be resilient and able to build good working relationships with colleagues and students to collaboratively achieve set goals, be aware of data analysis techniques, project management approaches and phases of the project lifecycle.
