Description Position Summary: The Divy’s Assistant Manager supports the Divy’s Manager in the daily operation, supervision, and performance of the department. This position plays a hands-on leadership role in executing Divy's operations, supervising frontline staff, maintaining service and safety standards, and ensuring a positive, mission-aligned guest experience. The Assistant Manager serves as the Manager’s designee during assigned shifts and supports operational continuity by maintaining standards in staffing, customer service, inventory control, food safety compliance, and cash handling. This role requires strong operational execution, sound judgment, and the ability to lead in a fast-paced, family-centered food environment. Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities: Operational Leadership & Staff Support Supervise department staff during assigned shifts, including Leads and Guest Services Attendants. Provide real-time direction and floor leadership to ensure smooth daily operations. Support staff scheduling needs and communicate coverage gaps to the Divy’s Manager. Assist in onboarding and training new team members in customer service, food safety, POS systems, and cash handling procedures. Reinforce Museum policies, internal controls, and cash handling standards. Provide coaching and performance feedback to staff; escalate performance concerns to the Divy’s Manager as appropriate. Serve as acting Manager during designated shifts or absences. Daily Operations & Guest Experience Ensure the Divy's space and eating area remains clean, organized, stocked, and welcoming throughout the day. Monitor product quality, presentation, and merchandising standards. Model exceptional customer service and professionally resolve guest concerns at the point of service. Operate and troubleshoot POS systems as needed. Support high-volume service periods by actively participating in food preparation, sales transactions, and guest assistance. Assist with broader Museum floor support when operationally appropriate. Inventory & Financial Support Monitor daily inventory levels. Assist with ordering, receiving and verifying vendor deliveries for accuracy and quality. Ensure proper product labeling, date marking, FIFO rotation, and storage compliance. Support inventory counts and reconciliation processes. Minimize waste through proper portioning, storage, and handling practices. Adhere to established cash handling, reconciliation, and deposit procedures. Food Safety, Sanitation & Compliance Maintain compliance with all Washington State and Snohomish County health regulations. Conduct routine checks of food handling practices, equipment cleanliness, and storage conditions. Ensure staff follow sanitation, handwashing, and food safety protocols at all times. Immediately report safety, compliance, or equipment concerns to the Divy’s Manager. Maintain a current Washington State Food Handler’s Card. Requirements Position Requirements: Demonstrated experience in food service, hospitality, retail, or related guest-facing environments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to high standards of customer service and operational excellence. Ability to lead by example and provide direction in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively within a mission-driven nonprofit organization. Comfort engaging diverse audiences, including families and children. Ability to work independently during assigned shifts. Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends. Ability to complete basic First Aid training. Education and Experience Minimum two (2) years of experience in food service, retail, hospitality, or customer service preferred. Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred. Experience with POS systems and cash handling required. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. The role requires frequent interaction with families, children, and staff in a dynamic, high-energy setting.
