POSITION SUMMARY

The Destination Management Company (DMC) Travel Consultant is responsible for the overall sales process for luxury tailor made travel in the USA & Canada, communicating with agents & tour operators to design, quote and price exceptional bespoke itineraries and deliver impeccable experiences.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Good knowledge of key North American tourist hotspots, destinations and experiences
  • Strong computer skills required (Microsoft Office), knowledge of travel-related software (Travel Studio, Tour Plan) is an advantage with an ability to quickly master new technologies
  • Positive attitude, hardworking, professional with a sense of humor and enjoys working in a team environment
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience as a travel consultant or minimum 2 years of experience in Inbound DMC/Tour Operator/Travel agency or related tourism field preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed established financial and Service Level Agreement goals
  • Create proposals & costing for tailor-made travel itineraries that are creative, appropriately priced and precisely serve the requirements of the client
  • Respond to all inquiries from both new prospects and existing agent clients as per agreed SLA
  • Ensure accuracy in all details in proposals and quotations
  • Ensure all Travel Studio and CRM system details are complete and accurate in accordance with department guidelines
  • Maximize conversion rates by continually following up on quotes held in option or ’nonresponsive’ with agents.
  • Coordinate with Operations Team to help deliver the confirmed itineraries, clients’ requirements and special requests to ensure seamless services on ground
  • Collaborate with product and contracting team to share effective feedback from agents to help develop portfolios
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current product offerings by reading direct mail pieces and attending regularly scheduled department meetings and training/product briefing sessions
