JOB SUMMARY

Dock & Door Technician is responsible for the diagnosis and repair of loading docks, industrial doors, high-speed doors, compactors, balers, and other warehouse equipment at our customer locations. The Dock & Door Technician will be provided a company service truck with parts inventory to provide repairs.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 or more years of maintenance experience in a service technician role in the material handling industry preferred.
  • Other maintenance experience will be considered (military, automotive/diesel, building maintenance, etc.)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical ac/dc systems up to 480 volts, hydraulic, and mechanical operations.
  • Welding experience is preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and scissor lifts.
  • Dock leveler and roll-up door experience preferred.
  • Additional training will be provided.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Ability to tow a trailer preferred.
  • Occasional overnight traveling may be required. Some weekends and after-hours work may be required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
Responsibilities
  • Answers phone calls from technicians and customers, providing technical support to fix issues.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots customer breakdowns; provides proper repairs to minimize equipment downtime and initiates estimates for repairs on site.
  • Performs routine scheduled maintenance including, but not limited to, standard inspections, repairing and replacing defective parts, lubricating parts, and repairing electrical equipment.
  • Perform planned maintenance services and breakdown repairs.
  • Maintain a company service vehicle and parts inventory.
  • Ability to work in various heights and confined spaces.
  • Ability to work safely on a ladder.
  • Perform in a team environment.
  • Reports any safety violations or incidents to the dispatcher/supervisor immediately.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a good attendance record.
  • Maintains professionalism on the job at all times.
  • Is reliable and punctual in reporting for work as scheduled.
  • Maintain positive customer relations and approach all situations in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
