Description Dock Operator/Clerk Position Summary The Dock Operator is directed by the Logistics Manager regarding scheduled stops for daily pick-ups and deliveries. This role requires a strong understanding of safely transferring goods, placing materials on pallets, and keeping the dock clean to properly load and unload trucks. The Dock Operator must possess basic math, reading, and writing skills, and must be committed to following all quality and safety procedures. The ability to stay organized and assist the Dock Manager with inventoried items is essential. This position requires the ability to lift to 50 lbs. Key Responsibilities Receiving • Unload trucks safely and efficiently. • Inspect incoming shipments for damage and notify the Dock Manager of any issues. • Verify counts, identify parts/materials, and confirm accuracy of received items. • Submit shipping/receiving tickets to the Dock Manager. • Link supplies received to purchase orders (POs) and assist with basic inventory control documentation. Shipping • Pull travelers and match shipments to purchase orders. • Notify the Dock Manager of shortages, incorrect items, or discrepancies. • Verify shipment information including weight and dimensions. • Wrap, band, and/or secure pallets for shipment to prevent damage in transit. • Enclose certifications (certs) and any customer-required paperwork with outbound orders. • Ensure correct packaging and wrapping for parts in process and finished goods. Transportation / Deliveries • Transport orders and/or pick up supplies per the Dock Manager’s schedule using a box truck. • Follow all DOT/company safety procedures for vehicle operation. • Complete and maintain a Driver’s Logbook accurately. General Duties • Attend training sessions and company meetings as required. • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dock and work area (5S expectations). • Perform other duties as assigned to support operations. Requirements Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications • Valid, up-to-date Driver’s License (copy on file required). • Box truck driving experience: minimum 3 months. • Ability to safely operate a forklift; must have a forklift training certificate. • Minimum 2 years of experience in: • Forklift operation • Warehouse SOPs (receiving, shipping, staging, labeling, etc.) • Basic data entry for inventory control SOPs (entering/maintaining inventory transactions accurately) • Basic math, reading, and writing skills. • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while supporting the Dock Manager. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. • Ability to work in a dock/warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. Safety & Quality Expectations • Consistently follow all company safety rules, vehicle safety procedures, and quality procedures. • Use proper PPE and safe material-handling practices at all times. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near-misses promptly to the Logistics Manager.
