Speedy Transport is an LTL carrier specializing in Canada to USA transportation and logistics for Canada, USA, Ontario, Quebec and North America. Founded in 1941 as a local, same-day parcel pick-up and delivery service, Speedy Transport has grown to be one of central Canada’s premier carriers.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to coordinate the day-to-day operations of a high-performance LTL company and to lead the workforce to achieve safety, quality, service, and cost goals. This will be accomplished by taking a “Hands on” approach to everyday operations and staff issues.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience within the Warehouse/Transportation/Logistics Industry
  • Experience with Cross-Docking
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Previous experience with LTL industry
  • Proven problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve operational goals
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle several complex tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform shift work and available for flexible hours
  • Ability to take ownership of issues and problem analysis, decision making and resolution
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and courteously with other staff
Responsibilities
  • Handing out & distributing assignments to the Cross Dock Terminal
  • Assist the Operations Manager to ensure that the warehouse is adequately staffed and that personnel are properly trained to carry out their work in a safe and competent manner
  • Work with the employees to ensure a safe work environment consistent with relevant legislation and company policies
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, budget targets and contribute to the growth of the company in a pro-active manner
  • Work closely with customer service to provide the best possible service for our customers
  • Any additional tasks as required
