QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs. repeatedly, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong focus on accuracy when scanning freight, handling packages, and completing office-related documentation to minimize errors.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team, communicating clearly with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth operations across dock and office tasks.
  • Dependable work ethic with a commitment to maintaining schedules and meeting deadlines.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, dock, or logistics environment is preferred; experience with basic office tasks such as data entry or customer service is an asset.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities, such as filling in for the Lead Hand or handling office duties, and ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic work setting.
  • Proficiency with using scanning devices and computer systems for tracking, documentation, and administrative tasks, including familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Ability to handle basic customer inquiries professionally and communicate effectively via email or phone.

Responsibilities
  • Efficiently handle the loading and unloading of trailers, ensuring proper placement and handling of packages to prevent damage and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Accurately scan incoming and outgoing freight using handheld or automated scanning systems to track shipments and ensure correct routing and delivery.
  • Serve as the key holder, responsible for closing the branch daily, which includes securing all access points (doors, gates, and loading bays), conducting a final walkthrough to ensure no packages or equipment are left unattended, verifying that all systems are shut down properly, and locking the facility to maintain security standards.
  • Perform end-of-shift procedures, including securing all access points, checking for safety hazards, and ensuring the facility is locked to maintain security standards.
  • Keep the dock area organized and free of debris, adhering to safety regulations and contributing to a safe working environment.
  • Support periodic inventory audits by verifying package counts and reporting discrepancies to ensure accurate records.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry of shipment details, preparing and organizing delivery manifests, responding to basic customer inquiries via email or phone, and maintaining accurate records of dock activities.
  • Hours of Operation: 07:00-11:00am (Must be willing to work overtime if the truck is late or for other operational needs)
  • Rate of pay: $18.63 per hour as per union contract
