Description JOB DETAILS: Level: Individual Contributor Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Primary Work Location: South SF Warehouse or Oakland Warehouse Position Type: Full Time On-Site Requirement: Full Time Onsite Job Shift: Day or Afternoons JOB SUMMARY The Dock Worker supports production and revenue goals by following proper handling, loading and unloading procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES Minimize damage to donated items Proper loading on and off of trucks Handle goods and equipment properly to avoid damage or breakage Sort and label goods by category and place in proper containers or equipment Separate high-end goods, computer and computer accessory and place in proper equipment Perform inventory count based on invoices, bills of lading, trailer manifest or packing slip when loading and unloading goods and when loading and unloading shipments and store returns Fill out needed production and inventory reports Assist drivers in loading / unloading of goods or equipment Deliver goods to work station using proper equipment Maintain good housekeeping around dock area Stack donated goods neatly and safely Submit needed reports and information in a timely manner Perform basic arithmetical calculations including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication Assist supervisor in providing on the job training to new staff, participants, clients and volunteers Perform “Processor” function when needed Load and secure shipments according to proper procedure Understand and implement safe, efficient freight handling and lifting procedures Place recyclable materials in proper containers Participate in mandatory testing for drugs and/or alcohol on a random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up basis. Other duties as assigned Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Less than 1 year of related experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Read and write English proficiently Basic mathematical skills Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all Follow workplace quality and safety standards and contribute to a culture of safety Receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement Strive for high customer satisfaction, going out of the way to be helpful and pleasant Ability to identify different categories of donated goods such as clothing, housewares, shoes, purses, etc. Must have a flexible schedule including holidays, evenings, and weekends; schedules may change based on business needs. Physical Requirements Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Able to stand on hard surfaces for an extended period of time Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
