JOB OVERVIEW

The Docketing Analyst is responsible for providing comprehensive litigation and non-litigation calendaring services to the firm, including calendaring for all assigned matters, ensuring adherence to calendaring procedures and processes for these matters, and facilitating firm compliance with calendaring policies and protocols to minimize the risk of missed deadlines.
This role has a remote working arrangement. Potential candidates must reside within one of the 10 states in which we have a physical office. In this role, you will report to the Docketing Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Independently calendar law firm litigation and non-litigation matters.
  • Create new records, dockets, and event in the docketing database.
  • Create reminders for events.
  • Search and retrieve filing information from various courts for docketing purposes.
  • Ensure adherence to calendaring procedures and processes.
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures for all assigned calendared events.
  • Participate in maintaining efficient workflow.
  • Research and respond to attorney, professional assistant, and paralegal regarding calendaring request and inquiries.
  • Identify and appropriately escalate any potential risk factors in various business situations to the Docketing Manager.
  • Prepare calendar reports as requested by attorneys and staff.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ year of experience in a legal environment with litigation practice required.
  • No prior docketing experience is required; some experience preferred.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience with calendaring software preferred; eDockets a plus.
  • Experience with iManage or other document management/document retention software used by major law firms, helpful.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually).
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of the litigation process including the identification of pleadings.
  • Ability to grasp concepts and understand the litigation process required.
  • Ability to read a legal document and surmise if a future deadline is evident.
  • Ability to identify jurisdictions, courts and judges and apply specific court rules to events.
  • Ability to prioritize work and calculate deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on complex requests in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Proven problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Unquestioned integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proficient in web-based conference call/web-sharing applications.
