Doctoral Committee Chair – Psychology (Clinical or Counseling)   Join California Southern University—proud member of the AIU System! As a Doctoral Committee Chair, you will inspire and engage learners by delivering quality instruction and support using relevant tools, resources, and materials. You will guide students through their doctoral research journey, ensuring high academic standards, integrity, and successful project completion. You will deliver timely and supportive mentoring to learners engaged in the doctoral project by providing substantive and constructive feedback and coordinating with committee members to ensure learner progress.   Key Responsibilities * Lead the committee in assisting learners with topic selection, literature review,  proposal development, project approvals, oral defense, and manuscript completion. * Provide constructive and in-depth feedback on research methodologies, formatting, data collection, analysis, and IRB applications. * Proactively and consistently engage with learners to ensure they meet milestones, stay on pace, and complete their doctoral projects successfully. * Oversee compliance with IRB protocols and supervise data collection. * Address academic concerns, complaints, and student progress issues in collaboration with Academic Advisors and other faculty members. * Comply with and enforce university and program policies, procedures and protocols. Required Education and Experience * Terminal degree in Psychology (required), from an institutionally or regionally accredited institution in Psychology (Clinical or Counseling Psychology preferred). * Licensed Clinical Psychologist (preferred). * Previous experience as a doctoral committee member and chair. * Demonstrated research contributions within the last ten years, including peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, program evaluation reports, or similar scholarly work. * Experience with online instruction and non-traditional (adult) learners.  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to create and sustain a collaborative, positive, and professional environment. * Proficiency in virtual collaboration within academic environments. * Ability to work with diverse learner populations. * Willingness to receive additional training and/or faculty mentoring.  * Outstanding organizational and time management skills. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with ability to quickly learn new technologies and software. * A strong understanding of parametric and nonparametric quantitative analyses involving R, SPSS, PSSP, GlueViz, Orange, G*Power, JASP, or other packages is desirable. Familiarity with Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed Methods is desirable. Why This Role Stands Out * Flexible, per-student compensation at $170–$180 * Small, focused student groups (2–5 students per 8-week session) to support meaningful engagement* * Earning potential of $340–$900 per 8-week session * Ability to serve on multiple committees simultaneously, based on availability and qualifications *The number of students may vary based on criteria established by academic leadership. Faculty may continue to accept up to five new learners per month until reaching a self-reported capacity or approximately 20 total students per month after four months of employment.
