Think of yourself as the Safety and Linguistic Inspector for TaskUs and our client. Imagine yourself going to work with one thing on your mind: Ensuring technical precision and bilingual excellence to power some of the world’s most disruptive technology. Your role was designed to audit technical assets in both English and Japanese, verify compliance with global and local style systems, and ensure a seamless experience for users in Japan. You enjoy the "detective work" of reviewing technical materials to ensure they are complete, functional, and accurately localized. You care deeply about the overall business and look for ways to add value through meticulous verification. You are the final safeguard, ensuring that the transition between English source material and Japanese documentation is flawless, safe, and contextually accurate. Key Responsibilities Bilingual Technical Validation: Conduct end-to-end reviews of documents in both English and Japanese to verify that technical steps are accurate and that the Japanese translation maintains the integrity of the English source. Localization Audit: Ensure all content adheres to specific brand standards while being culturally and linguistically appropriate for the Japanese context. Compliance & Safety Review: Verify that all safety warnings and regulatory information are accurately represented and meet local Japanese legal and safety requirements. Structural & Link Integrity: Review the architecture of knowledge base pages and LMS modules to ensure functionality, ensuring all localized links and media assets are correctly placed. Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as a bridge between the global English-speaking teams and the Japan-based operations, clarifying technical or linguistic ambiguities. Searchability (SEO/Metadata): Audit Japanese keywords, tags, and metadata to ensure localized content is easily discoverable for Japanese-speaking support staff. Version Control: Manage the lifecycle of bilingual document updates, ensuring that both English and Japanese versions remain synchronized. Qualifications Summary Based in Japan, you will be responsible for the final technical and linguistic validation of operating guidelines, knowledge bases, and customer support content. You will collaborate closely with Technical Writers, Copy Editors, and Training & Design teams across regions to ensure that every document is technically sound, culturally relevant, and fully functional in both English and Japanese. You will conduct independent audits of complex document sets, ensuring they meet the client's strict safety and technical specifications for the Japan market. Must Haves: Language Proficiency: Native-level Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent) and Professional Fluency in English. Must be able to proofread and edit complex technical subjects in both languages. Educational Background: BA/BS with a strong academic record. Degrees in Linguistics, English, Communications, or a technical field preferred. Review & Audit Experience: 5+ years of experience in document review, technical proofreading, or translation QA within a technical field. Elite Attention to Detail: An unparalleled eye for detail; you notice subtle linguistic nuances and technical errors that others miss. Technical Literacy: 5+ years working in a technical environment; ability to break down complex subjects and translate technical jargon into approachable Japanese. Japan Market Context: Deep understanding of Japanese business etiquette and communication styles, ensuring the client's voice resonates locally. Project Discipline: Strong project management skills; able to hit deadlines for multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment. Nice to Haves: Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with Translation Management Systems (TMS), GitHub, or web-based CMS platforms. UX/UI Intuition: A passion for how Japanese users interact with technology and documentation.
