EDUCATION

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires 2 years of progressive experience working with IT software, systems, and/or infrastructure, including programming experience in one or more programming languages, or completion of the IT Associates program.
  • 1 year of experience working with IT infrastructure, with experience in the planning, building, and troubleshooting of systems preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Required:
  • Development Languages - Knowledge and understanding of multiple IT programming languages and ability to write code and develop applications using those languages. Beginner
  • Packaged Platform / Systems - Knowledge of technologies and Packaged Platform/Systems including SAP, IBM, Oracle, Public Cloud services, etc. Beginner
  • Preferred:
  • Cloud Delivery - Familiarity with different cloud computing delivery models, knowledge of cloud-based solutions for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), and ability to deliver cloud-based technologies and systems. Beginner

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Domain Engineer I assists with provisioning, configuration and ensuring reliability of one or more systems, platforms or networks. Building knowledge in a specialist area in infrastructure, security, or operations, works within a team that builds, runs, and maintains aspects of a critical IT service.
Receiving detailed direction and instructions to guide their work and development, collaborates within the team with supervision and guidance to assist in delivery of new systems, capability, and technical functionality supporting corporate business objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists team with installation, implementation, configuration, and maintenance of technology within assigned domain. A domain is defined as an organized set of components based on technology, business, or organizational similarities typically with significant technology trends impacting its environment (e.g. Cloud, Cybersecurity). In collaboration with more senior engineers, assists team to write documentation for implementations of systems or technology in the domain. As an early career domain engineer, embodies a growth mindset, building technical skills and expertise through both formal and informal learning and training, including paired work with other teammates.
  • Assists with analysis, diagnosis and repair of technology (systems, platforms, or networks), ensuring adequate performance and capacity management. Performs triage and responds to incidents for specialization as needed.
  • Participates in scrum ceremonies (i.e., the 5 ceremonies involved in Scrum methodology: daily stand up, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives), providing domain specific information and informs sprint planning. Sprint planning is initial planning event that begins a sprint and defines what can be delivered in a sprint. Actively supports product teams in writing user stories and defining user story acceptance criteria where domain is applicable. A user story is a unit of work that is delivered within a sprint and is typically captured with a specific format including acceptance criteria requirements to determine when the story can be accepted as done.
  • Participates in evaluations of system capabilities and selection of technology as part of the technical team, utilizing the opportunity to receive feedback and learn from the work of other domain engineers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
