Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit a full time Domestic Abuse Assistant to join the Domestic Abuse Team on a temporary maternity cover contract.
The role involves making contact and engaging with victims of domestic abuse and their families and providing initial advice, contributing to the delivery of domestic abuse programmes and supporting the co-ordination of services to perpetrators of domestic abuse.
The successful applicant will have knowledge of the impact of domestic abuse on victims and children, an understanding of child protection procedures, issues and legal responsibilities and good understanding of legislative framework in relation to domestic abuse (Civil and Criminal). You will also have an understanding of child development, the principles of risk assessment and safety planning, understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities in practice and an ability to maintain professional boundaries.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with vulnerable people and victims of domestic abuse and their families, working within a multi-agency partnership and working directly with children. Good written and verbal communication skills, good organisational skills and being able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team are also essential.
You will hold a relevant professional qualification or have demonstrable experience and have the willingness to undertake specialist Domestic Abuse training
