Calan DVS is one of the largest domestic abuse charities in Wales and we are committed to working in partnership to end domestic violence and abuse. Our staff are passionate about what they do and deliver much needed services to support some of the most vulnerable people in society. Our service was formed in 2012 and we cover a large and varied geographical area, providing services across Neath Port Talbot, South Powys and Ammanford (Carmarthenshire). Our services range from refuge accommodation for female victims and their children, support in the community and crisis drop in services for female and male victims, support for children and young people exposed to domestic violence and abuse (DVA) and trauma informed family programmes. ABOUT YOU….
We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual who is committed to reducing the impact on the lives of children and families who have been affected by domestic abuse. You will have knowledge and understanding of the issues associated with domestic abuse and its effects on families, experience in liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies, at least 2 years working with vulnerable children and families and as a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field or willingness to work towards one, i.e. social care or health.
Calan DVS and THRIVE WA aim to work with families to guide them through assessment and find out what they would like to achieve as individuals and as a family unit. The project is early intervention and prevention.
As part of this exciting new role you will deliver programmes to children and young people
- Drawing and Talking Therapy enables children and young people to visually express worries and preoccupations that they find difficult to talk about.
- Listen and Hear Me works enables children and young people to build resilience and develop coping mechanisms.
