Make a meaningful difference with UnitingCare Queensland Our Counselling and Case Management Service provides specialist counselling and case management support to women experiencing high-risk domestic and family violence. We are seeking an experienced Domestic and Family Violence Counsellor to deliver trauma-informed therapeutic counselling alongside targeted case management and advocacy. This role supports women who have experienced significant and ongoing trauma and requires a high level of professional judgement, advanced risk assessment capability, and accountability. The position involves: Delivering specialist DFV counselling and therapeutic interventions Undertaking comprehensive and ongoing DFV risk assessments Developing, implementing, and reviewing safety plans Providing short-to-medium term case management and advocacy Maintaining accurate, timely, and legally defensible client records Working collaboratively with internal teams and external specialist services This role is not suitable for applicants seeking entry-level counselling experience or roles without Domestic and Family Violence specialisation. This role will suit you if you: Have direct experience working with women impacted by Domestic and Family Violence Are confident in undertaking complex risk assessments and safety planning independently Are comfortable working with high-risk and high-complexity presentations Understand the legal and service systems relevant to DFV practice Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling from a recognised tertiary institution Queensland Open Drivers Licence Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card or eligibility to obtain) Eligibility for membership with ONE of the following professional bodies: - Australian Association of Social Workers - Australian Psychological Society - Australian Counselling Association - PACFA Member Association GENDER REQUIREMENT Due to the nature of service delivery, female representation is required. Experience delivering specialised counselling and therapeutic support to women impacted by Domestic and Family Violence 2. Understanding of the impacts of Domestic and Family Violence and crisis response in a community-based setting 3. Ability to conduct complex risk assessments and implement safety plans 4. Experience providing case management and high-level advocacy to women with complex needs 5. Knowledge of specialist DFV, legal, health, and community services appropriate for referral 6.
