Job Profile: The Housekeeper’s role shall be to ensure the clean and hygienic maintenance of the home, which shall provide a high standard of appearance to residents, staff and other visitors, as well as contributing to the improved quality of care and lifestyle afforded to each resident.

· To offer choices, acknowledge residents’ rights and promote independence.
· To be responsible for the general tidiness of the Home and the area surrounding it. Ensuring that the home is clear of any dirt, litter or debris.
· To deal with waste bags and their prescribed disposal.
· To be responsible for removing any waste to the bin areas and keeping this area tidy and clean.
· To clean all rooms, including furniture, fittings, fabrics, carpets, floor coverings and equipment. Moving beds and furniture to facilitate cleaning.
· To clean all sanitary and other equipment, paying particular attention to guidelines for the control of germs, cross infection and infestation.
· To be fully aware of the use of all the cleaning equipment and to use them correctly.
· To be fully aware of all cleaning product/consumables and to use them correctly.
· To be fully aware of the Health & Safety statement and the COSHH statement.
· To report any malfunction of equipment or fittings that require maintenance.
· Maintain a stock list of cleaning consumables and ensure that they are re-ordered as required.
· Minimise wastage of cleaning materials by using things correctly and where appropriate diluting as instructed.
· To complete any relevant paperwork/audits.
