    Location: Uppingham
    Contract: Permanent
    Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
    In addition, house staff are required to work additional hours at school events throughout the year.
    Salary: £22,567.56 per annum
    Holiday: The annual holiday entitlement is all Uppingham School holidays apart from the 4 weeks and clean down hours specified above. Public holidays in term time are normal working days.
Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

To lead a team of Domestic Cleaners to provide a home from home for pupils by cleaning the houses and central buildings to the highest of standards, and in houses by serving meals and undertaking laundry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To work under the direction and guidance of an Assistant Cleaning Manager to carry out the following tasks:

  • Be courteous to colleagues and pupils and provide a welcoming environment to parents, contractors, conference delegates, and other visitors.
  • Work independently to complete the daily/weekly tasks assigned by your line manager to a high standard.
  • Organise cleaning schedules of work areas for cleaning staff to accomplish high standards. To amend schedules of work as required, including for periods of staff absence, preparing for the start or end of terms or visiting parents.
  • Provide induction training for new staff members, continue coaching, mentoring, and motivating staff members to ensure their performance is maintained at a high standard.
  • Undertake checks of cleaning standards in work areas of the house, providing feedback to individual staff members, and escalating to your relevant line manager where required.
  • Monitor and control cleaning product stock.
  • Lead on laundry within agreed timescale from the Matron and Houseparent.
  • Report equipment faults and act appropriately to ensure faulty equipment is not used until repaired or replaced.
  • To report staff absence accordingly and undertake return to work interviews.
  • Liaise daily with Matron and staff in order to identify and respond pro-actively to changing house needs.
  • Support and organise domestic staff during lunch service.
  • Comply fully with Health & Safety and Hygiene regulations and Infection Control guidelines, best practice, regulations, and the School Health & Safety Policies and guidance, including:
  • Attend professional training as required. As well as keeping up to date with online training.
