REPORTS TO: Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager GENERAL OVERALL PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: Responsible for donated goods production at the retail stores and for assisting customers in the selection of merchandise sold in the retail facilities. RETAIL STORE ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Depending on business needs store associates may work in multiple roles and have varied duties based on business needs. Primary functions may include working as a cashier and/ or production and/or donation attendant. Donation Attendant Carefully loading/ unloading items from customers vehicles. Responsible for writing receipts for donations to be given to the donor and ensuring that the donation is transported to the production area for processing. Assisting in the production of donations into saleable form and preparing non-saleable donations for return to be recycled if possible. Determining sale prices and placing item on the sales floor. Must be able to reach and maintain production goals as stated by each sub-category of goods. Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly production area with safety practices enforced. Responsible for maintaining excellent and courteous relations with customers in the retail store and for providing good customer service when receiving donations. General Requirements Responsible for being knowledgeable of all St Vincent de Paul Personnel and Sales policies including the sick and vacation leave policies, dress code, merchandising policy, payroll, job descriptions, and store and production paperwork, all the health and safety rules while working at the retail facility. Reporting immediately any accidents or Workers Compensation injuries to the Manager, Assistant Manager or Supervisor. Maintaining satisfactory attendance, punctuality and for working any shift, as scheduled. Working under the direct supervision of the Store Manager, Assistant Manager or Supervisor to accomplish all departmental duties and responsibilities, including all other duties or work as needed assigned by the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager or Supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Maintains clutter free, clear egress to emergency exits. Immediately corrects or reports any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership. Assists Customers in any way necessary processing sales transactions, assists with merchandise, and answers Customer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas including the front-end, sales floor and restrooms to help maintain merchandise, customer, and staff areas. Expedites newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor with a sense of urgency, merchandising all items per company best practice to the monthly presentation guidelines and maintaining merchandise familiarity within departments to assist Customers. Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with Associates and Customers. Safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise. QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments. Ability to use all Store equipment, including phones, registers and PC as required. Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store. Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds. Associates who work in production must have the ability to regularly push, pull and lifting to 75 pounds while working both indoors and outdoors. Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies. Flexibility to adapt and change duties as needed by the store management. Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age
