JOB TITLE: DONATION CENTRE ASSISTANT/CUSTOMER SERVICE LEAD

Victoria Women In Need Community Cooperative (WIN) is a non-profit community service cooperative that provides programs to support women, trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people along their journey between crisis, self-sufficiency, and wellness. We run 5 resale shop locations as well as an online shop to be able to support us in funding our programs and operations.

  • Type of Position: Part-Time
  • Location: WIN Donation Centre (555 Ardersier Road)
  • Wage Range $18.00 - $19.00/ hour (with paid breaks)
  • Hours per week: 15-20 hours/week, including Fridays and Saturdays (subject to change based on business needs)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Resourceful, positive attitude, and an excellent communicator.
  • Able to closely adhere to health and safety procedures.
  • Previous experience working in a customer service environment and/or a warehouse environment is preferred.
  • Strong leadership ability,
  • Excellent customer service skills, able to answer questions in a friendly and positive manner,
  • Good knowledge of quality standards for second-hand goods, as well as a keen interest in second-hand items,
  • Class 5 Drivers license with clean driver’s abstract is an asset, as well as willingness to learn to drive WIN vehicles.
  • Knows about and values the work that WIN does in the community – must have an understanding of what WIN is all about,
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and to contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment and maintain open communication with staff and volunteers.
  • Comfortable working outside receiving donations throughout the year
  • Able to work in a dusty environment, with repetitive motions related to receiving, moving and processing clothing and houseware donations (up to 20lbs), may assist with moving furniture and other larger items as needed (over 30lbs).

Responsibilities
  • Providing overall support in customer service issues to the donation centre staff.
  • Assisting with tasks across production and working as a cooperative member of the team in accomplishing production goals.
  • Processing all donated items according to established quality and sorting criteria and WIN policies and procedures.
  • Acting as part of the production team in providing excellent donor service following safety procedures, explaining criteria for accepting donations, and creating a positive donation environment.
  • Assisting with the transport of items as needed.
  • Actively contributing to production being a positive and welcoming and respectful space.
  • Ensuring ongoing, clear communication with team members and supervisor regarding operations.
  • Ensuring that all health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Organizing and moving stock as needed.
  • Providing information to community members regarding WIN and its programs, promoting WIN as an organization both internally and externally.
  • Adhering to WIN production standards and WIN policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organized work area.
