With the generous support of our donors and retail customers, we are changing lives through the power of work.  Position Summary:  Responsible for operating large delivery vehicles and moving equipment within the areas served by GWH to deliver and/or collect goods. Responsible for facilitating a seamless end-to-end donation process – including scheduling, logistics, pickup, drop-off, tracking and reporting – to ensure a frictionless process.    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Uphold the mission, vision, and values while conducting pickups throughout the Greater Houston area.  Operate both a 26-foot box truck vehicle, and commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and trailer combination while monitoring and maintaining all safety standards. Training and licensing will be provided by Goodwill Houston.  Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure truck road worthiness and that it is equipped with all necessary tools.  Lift, carry, and load donations, including furniture weighing up to 100 pounds, onto box trucks and trailers for transport to and from donor and client locations, including up and down stairs.  Handle, load, unload and secure goods in manner which protects goods, donors and associates.  Provide supervision and oversight of the Driver Helper assigned to the vehicle.   Provide first level of donor support to resolve donor service complaints or issues.  Work in coordination with the Donation Acquisition team to build, maintain and monitor schedule of pickups, drop-offs and donation events.  Maintain schedule and complete pickups following the assigned schedule.  Maintain and provide accurate records of donation pickups to correlate with goods received.   Assist in the planning, coordination, and supervision of Donation Acquisition events.  Track, report, price and distribute corporate donations to assigned locations.  Represent Goodwill Houston as the Donor Ambassador at community and professional engagements.  Ensure maintenance checks and safety standards are complete and accurate for all equipment and vehicles.  Adhere to all driving rules and regulations; report motor vehicle violations (on/off duty) within 24 hours.  Report all property damage immediately and complete written accident reports.  Use appropriate safety and protective equipment as necessary.  Maintain an acceptable attendance and punctuality record.  Educate GWH associates on the donations process to ensure they are providing business leads that may assist the donation flow.   Performs other duties as assigned by management.    Additional Responsibilities:  Demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, and present a friendly, cooperative attitude.   Ability to multitask, make quick decisions, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.   Adheres to all GWH Policies & Procedures, Loss Prevention & Safety Regulations, and GWH Guiding Principles.   Must be punctual, maintain a professional appearance, and perform expected duties.  Maintain a high level of confidentiality.  Must perform all duties according to GWH safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping standards, and ensure all walkways are clear and free of clutter.  Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.    Minimum Qualifications:  A high school diploma or the equivalent is preferred.  A minimum of six (6) months of commercial truck driving experience or any job-related experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to be able to perform the essential functions of the position.  Valid Texas Driver’s License Commercial Driver’s License (Class A), with driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company’s standards  Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand safety instructions, standard operating procedures, and workplace communications.  Ability to work a flexible schedule determined by organizational needs; hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays.  Ability to read maps and other written directions.  Good communication skills.  Able to follow instructions and comply with policies and procedures and to recognize potential safety issues and identify areas in need of remediation to prevent accident or injury.  Able to work independently and with a team, exercise good judgment and sound decision-making required.  Able to maintain good relationships with customers and co-workers.  Must be able to understand and follow training instructions.  Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment.
